Search News with NewsBlip

And another entry in our "search for current events news" category is NewsBlip, at http://www.newsblip.com/. NewsBlip is for REALLY current news -- it doesn't hold stories for more than four or five days -- which makes it great for searching terms that end up overwhelming if you search archives. I can't get it to do phrases -- it burps if I try -- but single words or distinctive sets of words work well. "Al Gore," in quotes, will get you an error, but +gore +candidate +democrat worked fine. ( using - to exclude words works well too.) Search results are ranked in three categories -- within the last hour, within the last 24 hours, and older than 24 hours. You can also join NewsBlip but that doesn't offer you much yet. The site manager tells me he's adding more features. Worth a look.
