Ancestry.Com Posts Biography and Genealogy Master Index
Ancestry.com has announced the posting of the BGMI -- the Biology and Genealogy Master Index. The index contains over 550 million searchable records with biographies gathered from a variety of publications, including Who's Who in America , American Black Writers , and The Directory of American Scholars . Each biography reference in the index lists the person's name, years of birth and death (if known) and an abbreviation for the source of the biography. The BGMI is focused on the late 19th and early 20th century, and the online version of the index will not include the name of "living persons" born after 1920. The BMGI will be available free of charge until March 10.
