Searching for NonProfits

GuideStar ( http://www.guidestar.org/ ) is a searchable database of over 620,000 nonprofits. The basic search is really basic: type a keyword in the box. Searching for "duck" (duck is apparently the search keyword of the day) found 36 results. The search results contain just the nonprofit name and (sometimes) a description, but clicking on the nonprofit name takes you to a report on the nonprofit. Sometimes the report is well-organized and extensive, containing contact information, financials, board member information, etc. (The first page is a summary. Click on the links on the left part of the page for more information.) The minimum amount of material in the report seems to be contact information and program category. Advanced search allows you to search by keyword, city, state, zip, category, income range -- even EIN. Worth a look.
