April 27, 2000Yes, there ARE Search Engines for Just About Everything. Why?You know, every time I write up a search engine that's a bit on the obscure side, I wonder, "Is anybody going to care about this? Is this a little too niche for the GROTP (Greatest Readers on the Planet)?" And inevitably I get an e-mail from someone thanking me for the resource because just earlier that morning they were looking for a particular item in that ... So here's my ultimate test: Howard Besser's T-Shirts Database at http://sunsite.Berkeley.EDU/T-Shirts/ .. Yes. It's a database of t-shirts. Over 525 of 'em. Simple search allows you to plug-in a couple of words and get a list of results with a graphic of the T-shirt logo found and a transcription of any words on the t-shirt. If you run a search with a lot of results ("blue" works well) you'll be waiting a while for all the logos to load. Advanced search allows you to search by title, artist, subject, description, or background color. If you like you can also browse the list of subjects in the database. Worth a look. Some interesting graphics in here. Posted to Culture-Clothing | TrackBack
