May 12, 2000No, It's Not Just IEAfter my cookie swipe warning yesterday, I got a couple of e-mails from readers saying, "It's not just IE, ya know. Netscape also has browser holes." I agree 100% and I didn't mean to imply otherwise. I find that News.com helps me keep up with the constant security issues; their "big picture" story roundups can help get you up to speed. http://news.cnet.com/news/0-1005-204-1717169.html. Two years ago, or even 18 months ago, I would have ended this bit with, "And turn off Java, ActiveX, and JavaScript when you surf. They're the holes that can be exploited." Unfortunately, JavaScript has permeated all parts of the Web and it's getting difficult to surf without it. But I'd still turn off Java and ActiveX. Heck, turn off images and scripting and you'll fly through the Web so fast you'd think you were on a cable modem. Well, maybe not THAT fast... Posted to Internet-Technology-Browsers
