May 30, 2000WoYaa! Offers Information on African Web PagesWoYaa! (http://www.woyaa.com/ ) is a resource for both the African continent and individual countries that make up the continent. You may search the site (top), browse categories (left side) or browse by country (right side). The French version of the page is at http://www.woyaa.com/indexfr.html . The search engine is pretty straightforward -- insert a keyword and away you go. I searched for "Kidjo" -- short for Angelique Kidjo, one of my favorite singers -- I think she's from Benin. (If you're ever looking for new music, do yourself a favor and pick up Fifa.) There were six results. Moving on to the categories, I browsed through Musicians. Angelique Kidjo was on the second page. The sites in the category listings have enough summary to give you an idea of what they're all about, and they're in alphabetical order. Caveat: the popular stuff is listed first, in alphabetical order. (They have the notation POP beside them.) The country pages are a mix of directory and listings. Mozambique, for example, has a list of categories at the top of the page, with an alphabetical listing of materials at the bottom of the page. There's a ton of stuff here, and it warrants exploring. Worth a look. Posted to
