Classical Music Index

A music librarian at Duke University has put together a classical music resource site at http://www.lib.duke.edu/music/resources/classical_index.html . The front page is sparse, merely listing the seven sections of the site (from Composer Homepages to Databases) but take the time to explore. The composer homepage link, for example, lead to a subdivision of six sections, plus a link to a section on female composers.

It would be nice if some of the composer links were more annotated, with notes for the late 20th century list as to which links were for "official sites" and which weren't. The database link pages, on the other hand, are nicely done with plenty of information on what's available in each database.

This site is searchable by keyword, and does link to pages that are not in English. (The language of the page, if not English, is noted in red next to the site description.) The site maintainer has also taken trouble to provide suggested cross-reference links, making the site easy to navigate.

Aside from my quibble about composer page annotation, this site is excellent -- elegant, fast-loading, updated often. Worth a look.
