Britannica.com Cutting Staff, Developing New Resource
A story from CNET reports ( href="http://news.cn et.com/news/0-1005-200-3708457.html ) that Britannica.com is cutting its staff by 16 percent. The interesting part of this story, though, is the news that Britannica is developing a new resource, Britannicaschool.com . The site will contain study guides and other education-oriented resources, but it won't be free. Instead, it'll be run as a subscription service for both school districts and individuals. The site http://Britannicaschool.com is actually live right now -- and is really Flash-heavy -- and you can see four sample study guides at http://Britannicaschool.co m/studyguides.htm . If you're interested in the product you can preregister at http://Britannicascho ol.com/pre_registration.htm .
