Yahoo Now Charging For Business Listings

In February of '99, Yahoo! started charging an optional $199 for business owners who wanted expedited consideration for listings. That was optional. Now, however, it's been made permanent. Business owners who want business listings on Yahoo must pay $199 for a listing consideration. ("Adult" business owners must pay $600.) $199 does not guarantee a listing, and if your site is rejected, tough cookies; you don't get your money back. The Wall Street Journal has a story on this at . In other Yahoo news, Yahoo is considering charging for some Yahoo services (see CNET article at http://news.cnet.com /news/0-1005-200-3741857.html .) This is, I guess, an attempt for Yahoo to get more income from somewhere besides advertising. Will it work? No idea. However, I guarantee you if Yahoo does this others will follow suit, and in short order. .
