Merck Medical Reference Now Free Online

Merck has updated their home edition of the Merck Manual of Medical Information. It's now available for free online at http://www.MerckHomeEdition.com/ .

From this page there are two versions available. The first version is the text-only version, which you can access at http://www.merck.c om/pubs/mmanual_home/contents.htm .

The interactive edition contains animations, illustrations, audio pronunciations, etc. and is available on the left side of the screen. The interactive edition is housed in a pop-up window. A search form is housed in another popup window.

As you browse (or search) the interactive edition of the manual, you'll see that certain words are highlighted (in medium blue -- they don't stick out very well.) Those are words which can be looked up. Icons indicate photographs, drawings, animations, etc. A couple of casual searches found plenty of interactive extras. Worth a look.
