December 07, 2000Opera Launches Version 5.0... for Windows. Opera has launched a new version of their browser in an "ad-supported" mode for users who don't want to pay the $39. (You can still pay for it if you don't want to see the ads, which is good -- adware bothers me a little.) I haven't downloaded it yet, so I can't tell you what it looks like. However, the press releases mentions a new instant messaging features (ack! Is this an early symptom of creeping bloatware?) and an integrated search function. There's also support for new JavaScript versions and "accessibility to different Web sites." (I hope this fixes the form problem that I have intermittently with Opera.)
