January 08, 2001Little Nemo In OperaLandI have occasionally talked in these pages about my frustration with IE and Netscape, and my intention to get away from those browsers and migrate to either Opera or Mozilla. Last week I purchased Opera 5.0 and tried to make it my sole, full-time browser. I ran into some difficulties. There are still some sites that don't work with Opera (the Dow Jones Publications Library is the one that causes the most problems) and I don't like the way the bookmarks are handled. Also some pages don't render properly. Not many, but a few. On the other hand, the ability to set image loading in individual frames is great, the ability to clip e-mail addresses without the mailto: tag, changing the size of the page on the fly, and individually load pictures. Because of the problems with page rendering, and some sites not working, I'm now using Opera with Mozilla 0.6 as a backup. I'm still tweaking this setup, but it is possible to get away from both IE and Netscape and use the Web. Here's hoping it gets even easier. Posted to Internet-Technology-Browsers | TrackBack
