The New York Times Launches Oscars Section

The NY Times has launched a special section for coverage of the 2001 Oscars at http://www.nytim es.com/pages/movies/oscars/index.html . There are articles on the current nominees, forums for discussing the nominations, and a search engine for past winners (two drop boxes allow you to specify the decade and the category.)

But the thing that made me want to cover this was the wealth of content from the New York Times. Go to the past winners section at http://www.nyti mes.com/events/oscars/past_winners.html . Pick a category. Now, in the list of winners you'll see that the movie is sometimes hyperlinked. (Some categories -- like Best Actress -- have fewer hyperlinked movie titles than others.) Click on the hyperlink and, in a new window, you'll get the original New York Times review for that movie. The reviews go all the way back to the 20s. That collection of reviews -- which would be difficult to get anywhere else -- makes this a great read. Check it out.
