March 27, 2001An Agricultural Search EngineWeb-Agri ( http://www.web-agri.com/ ) is a search engine for agriculture pages. It currently indexes over 300,000 pages. Searching is pretty standard (there is a help page available) but unfortunately sometimes the results are less than helpful. For example, a search for +starlink +corn presented the "300 best results" (no full result count?) and while some result listings were readable, some of them were just meta-tag listings or javascript instructions. Searches with less than 300 results did provide exact counts. "tail-docking" had 132 results. +irrigation +erosion +"water table" had 199 results. +hog +lagoon +regulations had 225 results. Results are presented in pages of ten each, with asterisks denoting how relevant they are (I found the asterisks were usually pretty accurate.) Posted to Science-Agriculture
