March 28, 2001New Browser Versions AvailableAh, the quest for the perfectly-compatible, never-crashing, bookmark-friendly, groovalicious browser continues (though Opera comes pretty darn close.) Microsoft has released a public preview of Internet Explorer 6. (I don't know what "Public Preview" is code for -- is this an alpha version? A beta version?) It's available at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/preview/default.asp . The system reqirements give me the impression that it's available only for Windows. I have not downloaded it myself; the reviews I've heard so far have been mixed. Meanwhile, version 8.1 of Mozilla is available at http://www.mozilla.org/releases/ . This browser is available for Mac, Windows, and Linux. There are several improvements over the 8.0 version; the ones that intrigue me are the hierarchical history feature and the basic gopher support. Gopher support! Whee!
