April 16, 200117 Million Ellis Island Records Hit the WebThe American Family History Center on Ellis Island is making the big leap onto the Internet. Tomorrow the site ( http://www.ellisislandrecords.org ) will make available immigration documents of the 17 million people who entered the US through Ellis Island. The immigration records will cover immigration from 1892-1924, and will include the name of the immigrant, ship name, port of origin, arrival date, line number on manifest, age and gender, marital status, nationality, and last residence. The site says that for a "nominal fee" the site will provide printouts of the data, along with a scanned copy of the ship's manifest. Posted to Genealogy | TrackBack
