Business.com 2.0 Released

Business.com has announced Business.com 2.0. The new version offers personalization features for specialized areas of interest and enhanced search capabilities. Additional features include information pages on 64,000+ public, private and international companies and content from the Financial Times. Daily newsletters are expected to be launched later.

Business.com ( http://www.business.com/) has gone so deep with its industry links it gets disconcerting. You can drill down from Food & Beverage, to Condiments, Spreads & Sauces, to Horseradish, to three listings of horseradish manufacturers, two of which are annotated.

The levels of industry listings have varying amount of "sidebar" information available. For example, on the Food & Beverage level you can view editors' picks for research, newsletters available (not just Business.com's), key players (companies with highest market cap, best stock performance, biggest profit margin, etc), related associations, and so on. On the Condiments, Spreads & Sauces level, only Web sites, key players, and associations are available, with a one-site reference listing.

The company finder has links to 10,000 US public companies, 14,000 international companies and 44,000 private companies. Information on the page includes stock quote, profile, news, key competitors, and where the company compares with their market cap. More extensive information for each of these topics is available via a text menu in a blue box on the left side of the page.

You can tie all this information together in a personalized "My.Business" page, which supplies quote information, news by industry, and news broken out by company.

Business.com has done a heck of a job of adding materials to their site. In the process they've turned this into a must-read resource. Kudos to them for the excellent upgrade. Go take a look.
