September 24, 2001More RSS ResourcesHere I go again. Remember RSS? Right; it's that syndication format I won't shut up about, the one you can use to aggregate news from all over the Web and read it in one place (or, if you're a Web wrangler, syndicate your headlines to several places with minimal effort.) You may remember me frothing about AmphetaDesk http://www.disobey.com/amphetadesk/ , which is a software application allowing you to gather RSS files into one long list and read them. If you're reluctant to download an install a software application but you want to see what I'm fussing about, check out http://soapclient.com/rss/rss.html . This tool, the SQLData RSS Reader, provides an RSS file query box. Insert a RSS file name in there (ResearchBuzz' is http://www.researchbuzz.com/researchbuzz.rss ) and the online reader will format it for easy viewing. You can bookmark the search result and refer to it later; it'll update automatically. If you want some ideas of what's available in RSS format, check out the links on the left side of the page. Another good place to find RSS feeds is NewsIsFree at http://www.newsisfree.com . They currently gather headlines from over 1950 sources. Can't get enough RSS goodness? Check out the new Syndic8 http://www.syndic8.com/. This project, by Jeff Barr, asks you to register and in return provides you with a list of 841 RSS feeds and a structure for evangelism and Web site reviews. This site is just getting started so there is not yet a lot here, but if you're interested in being an RSS booster I encourage you to register. Posted to Internet-Technology-RSS
