November 28, 2001Speaking of TV -- Almost 700 Theme Songs on One SiteIf going through the previous site made you all nostalgic for those days when you laid in front of the TV for, oh, just HOURS at the time, chowing down pinwheel cookies and absorbing Doctor Who, then take another trip down memory lane with themesonline ( http://telesearch.org/themesonline/index.htm). This site contains 677 theme songs and a smaller number of commercials, promos, and jingles. All the ones I saw were in RealAudio format. Navigating the site is simple. It's framed in three "rows." The middle row is for content, the top and bottom rows are for navigation. The top row has a hyperlinked alphabet; click on a letter and the middle row will show you a list of available themes starting with that letter. Information includes the title of the show, genre (drama, sitcom, whatever), network, and the dates it ran. Sometimes there's a little promo picture of the show. Brief notes mention what years particular themes are used; sometimes opening and closing themes are included. The Munsters, for example, has three themes available. This site is a lot of fun. If you don't get enough themes from this site, consider http://www.80stvthemes.com/, which has a bunch of themes from the 80s. There's some 70s stuff here too, like a full instrumental version of the Match Game theme. There are some commercials here too (including a video of Alan Greenspan hawking Apple IICs back in 1985.)
