December 26, 2001Irish ExcavationsOh, I love my job. Excavations.ie ( http://www.excavations.ie/) is a database of Irish excavation reports (North and South Ireland) between 1985 and 1999. While that doesn't sound like it'd be a lot of information, this database actually contains over 4000 reports. There are two ways you can access the information. You can browse reports by year/county, or search them. Elements for which you can search include year, county, site number, site name, site type, and author. A site type search for "cairn" found eight results. Search reports provide information on the site, as well as what appears to be the name and affiliation of the person filing the report. Some reports are more detailed than others. There are a few links here but the big attraction is the database. I would have loved some pictures. Worth a look. Posted to Countries-Ireland
