Even More Canadian Railway Information

(Why? I dunno. I'm on a kick or something.) There's a collection of Canadian railway information at http://www.trainweb.org/cana dianrailways/.

The site is divided into several parts: Articles, Sections, Departments, and Information. The articles section is about what you'd expect -- a list of articles with summary information included. You might have to be a little railway savvy to get the most out of these article descriptions -- at least, *I* don't know what a DAR Buffet-Parlor car is.

The Sections part is the heart of this site's information and why I decided to review it. There's the industrial locomotive database which provides "industrial and short line locomotive rosters for locations in all provinces except British Columbia which is well covered by the excellent work of Mike Green. This is shown on a historical basis with the cut off date being 31 December 1990." There's a photo archive of industries served by rail. There's a photo gallery of locomotives used by various railways. There's a small collection of railway-related documents. There's a history of the railways in Canada, Railways of Newfoundland, track diagrams, and more.

The Departments part of this site is a hodgepodge information. There's "Canada Calling," a collections of columns about Canada railways (they've been discontinued, but go back to 1998 so there's plenty to read), a list of railway links (not huge, but nicely annotated), a helper page for identifying photographs of unknown locomotives and other train cars, listings of railway books, and press releases from the rail industry.

You will spend a lot of time wandering around in this site, but it's worth it. There is plenty to see here. Worth a look.
