January 31, 2002Lots and Lots and Lots and Lots of SoccerMEGASOCCER.com (http://megasoccer.com/) has tons of soccer stuff -- soccer information on 45 countries, over 80 leagues, and over 1000 teams. The site is divided into five sections. There's a soccer search engine that searches soccer pages across the Web. Searching for "World Cup" found over 89,000 documents. Attempts to find non-soccer stuff were only marginally successful -- "strawberry shortcake" and "pez dispenser" both came up with 0 results. Searching for "pinwheel" did find 2 results, on giftwrapping and tying a bow. Clicking on a search engine result brings up the page in a popup JavaScript window. The second area is a list of news stories, available toward the middle of the page. The headlines cover a variety of team, personal, and tournament play. The third area is a video news service, which appears in a pop-up window. This daily item covers all the soccer news of the day. The fourth area is features, which are searchable via the search box at the top of the page or browsable from the blue box right below the search box. Since the features are not dated off the front page, it's hard to tell how often new ones are added. Finally, there's a related link section, a subject index of links having to do with soccer. You can get to it about two-thirds of the way down the main page, or use the search box to find the soccer info you're looking for. As if that weren't enough, tabs at the top of the screen allow you to browse soccer info by country, continent, or league, grab stats, or participate in a forum. This is a head-ful of soccer. Worth a look. Posted to Entertainment-Sports | TrackBack
