Arkansas History Commission Redesigns Site, Three New Searchable

The Arkansas History Commission ( http://www.ark-ives.com ) has redesigned its site and added three new databases:

* Arkansas Newspapers, http://arkansashistory.arkansas.com/resource_types/newspapers/ -- Holdings information on about 3000 titles published in Arkansas from 1819 to today. Searchable by title, city, and county.

* Arkansas County Records, http://arkansashistory.arkansas.com/resource_types/county_records/ -- "Selected Records" from 1797-1950. You can search by title or county. The search finds titles in the Commission's holdings, not the records themselves.

* Arkansas Military Records, http://arkansashistory.arkansas.com/resource_types/military_records/ -- Again, this is a search for holdings -- you can search by last name. Military records held by the Commission include Arkansas Civil War service and Confederate pension files; information about Arkansas soldiers in the Mexican War, the Spanish-American War, and the First World War; and various indexes to service in the American Revolution, the War of 1812, Indian wars, and the U.S. regular army.
