Dictionary of New Zealand Biography Online

Wired is reporting ( http://www.wired.com/news/culture/0,1284,51132,00.html ) that the Dictionary of New Zealand Biography is now online at http://www.dnzb.govt.nz/ .

If you try to access the site using Opera you'll get a "you need another browser" type message, but you will get a link to the over 3,000 biographies available in alphabetical order.

Names are listed with birth and death dates (some of them are approximate.) Click on a name and you'll get a -- well, a biography of the person. At the end of the entry you'll get a bibliography of references and a "how to cite this page" reference.

If you open the site with Internet Explorer, you get a much more elaborate site, which includes search options (basic keyword or search by several factors including occupation, decade of birth, or tribal affiliation) news topics that relate to famous New Zealanders, and snapshots of New Zealand history.
