InterFlood Makes Flood Maps Available

InterFlood ( http://www.interflood.com ) is making available over 111,000 FEMA flood maps that cover over 99.95 percent of the nation. Subscription to the site costs $95 for 250 maps, $145 for 500 maps, and $195 for 750 maps.

If you're not using a newer IE or Netscape, expect lots of warning messages that your browser isn't supported. I couldn't get this site to work properly in Opera, so I started up IE. Once you're logged in, getting a flood map is simple; enter an address. Once you've done that, InterFlood will show you a map and ask you to confirm that correct location of the address. Do that and click "List Flood Maps," you'll be given a list of available flood maps with the date of the map noted. Click on the name of the map and it'll open in a new window (in PNG format, no less!) Maps are large and easy to read, with shaded areas indicating flood zones. A large circle marks the address you entered, and the top of the map contains your company name and the address you've chosen. Maps are in easily-printable format.

I wouldn't try to use this site without IE or Netscape, but if you're using a current browser you should find it fairly easy to use.
