April 09, 2002Library of Congress Adds "Slaves and the Courts"The Library of Congress has announced Slaves and the Courts, 1740-1860 at http://memory.loc.gov/ammem/sthtml/ . This collection consists of about one hundred pamphlets and books documenting the experiences of African and African-American slaves in the United States and American colonies. Resources include trial arguments, examinations of cases and decisions, proceeding, and other materials concerning slavery and the slave trade. This exhibit has a subject index, author index, and title index (you can also search by keyword.) Items are available as page images and all the items I looked at had full transcriptions available as well. Posted to History-Slavery
