Reader Request -- Monitoring Web Pages

Several weeks ago a reader contacted me asking what I recommended for monitoring Web pages and determining when they have new content. They preferred a standalone software program instead of a Web service like, say, SpyOnIt. I recommended my fave-rave solution -- WebSite Watcher ( http://aignes.com/ ).

For various reasons, they didn't like that software. But I don't know of any other software program to recommend. So, the reader request, partially for DW and partially for me -- what software do you use to monitor Web pages? (Desktop-based solutions only, please, no Web services.)
