May 08, 2002Reader Response -- Web Site Monitoring SoftwarePlenty of responses to this question -- thanks! Reader MH recommends some software that might no longer be available: "I use URLy Warning, which I got from http://www.urlywarning.com . But that site seems to have been down for a little while, so I'm not sure if those guys are still in business. Pity if not, useful piece of software..." Reader JK likes WebMon, a freeware app available at http://www.markwell.btinternet.co.uk/webmon/ . Reader GH likes Compass: "I love it for managing bookmarks - has folders, easy to use like the old Netscape bookmark manager, very easy to search, and will check links (tho I never have the time)." It's available at http://www.softgauge.com/compass/ . Reader D mentions Change4New, at http://www.ykwong.com/chk4new.html . From what I can see it's adware now but ads will be removed in the next version. Reader TO (and several other readers, including reader D) recommends Webspector at http://www.illumix.com/webspector.htm . I seem to recall using this software a couple of years ago, and I think I liked it. I haven't used it recently, though. Finally, reader TB mentions Powermarks at http://www.kaylon.com/power.html . I have used Powermarks in the past, and while it's a fine program I could not get over the fact that it didn't use folders. Thanks very much to those who sent in their suggestions!
