Scottish Documents ( http://www.scottishdocuments.com/content/default.asp ) offers a searchable index of over 300,000 names in Scottish wills from 1500-1875.

You can do a simple search (first name and surname) or an advanced search (first name, surname, date range, occupation). A search for Sinclair failed because it came up with over 500 results. A search for Mochrie found 21results. Results listed include surname, first name, date, designation (looks like most of the time this is occupation), and court. In the future you'll be able to buy digital copies of the wills from the site, but currently that option is not available.

There are some other items available on this site. The research tools section offers, among other things, hints on handwriting help and occupations. Famous Scots offers a short list of Scots people who died between 1500 and 1875. Finally, the site offers examples of wills over different time periods. The one from 1532 is amazin'.
