Cool Advanced Options from AlltheWeb

I must confess I really don't like the "Google Killer" articles that have been popping up lately about Teoma and now AlltheWeb. I didn't think that the idea was to "kill" Google -- I thought the idea was to make a better search engine.

That having been said, I really do like AlltheWeb. The fact that it has 2+ billion pages in its index is nice but won't stop me from my usual Google habits. But I do like visiting their site and I realized over the weekend that they have a cool advanced search page at: http://www.alltheweb.com/advanced .

Their advanced search allows for greater flexibility in searching by date (one month, six months, nine months, or a year) as well as the ability to filter searches by IP address. You can also restrict your results to documents of a certain size (larger or smaller than a user-specified number of bytes, kilobytes, or megabytes) and use fuzzier word queries (words must, must not, or should appear in documents.) You can also narrow by language and character set.

AlltheWeb is not a Google killer, but it's worth a look.
