Meeting Industry Has New Online Resource

NicheDirectories LLC has launched VenueResource.com ( http://venueresource.com/ ), a directory of venues for meetings, conferences, reunions, etc.

From the front page you can either search by location or criteria. Criteria is a series of pull-down menus and includes country, area code, type of venue, religious affiliation, and gender. The search results page provides very little information -- the name of the venue, the location (city/state), and the phone number.

You have two options on the search results page. You can request more information or you can view details. If you request information you'll get a page that asks for all kinds of things, including address information, venue preferences, group size, accommodations needed, etc. (I saw no mention of a privacy policy anywhere on this page so I don't think I'd do this.) The page on viewing details provides various levels of information depending on what venue you're looking at, but potentially available information includes phone number, business and site addresses, venue and accommodation descriptions, nearest airport, transport information, and fees.

It would be good if the map search were a little more narrow (click on the United States and see how many results you get) and it would be good if more venues had more information. Worth a look.
