June 06, 2002Scots Dictionary to Go OnlineThe BBC is reporting ( http://news.bbc.co.uk/hi/english/uk/scotland/newsid_2022000/2022999.stm ) that a dictionary of what they call "Vernacular Scottish" is going online, with the expectation that it'll be complete by 2004. Researchers putting it together are going through 100,000 words, some over 800 years old. You can get the University of Dundee press release about this project at http://www.dundee.ac.uk/pressreleases/prjun02/mspscotslanguage.htm . I didn't see any evidence that the site is yet online, but if you want a small dictionary of Scots language you can check out http://www.ullans.com/ScotsDictionary.html .
