August 15, 2002Ancient Baseball, Saved in Data FilesRetrosheet ( http://www.retrosheet.org/ ) is a site with old baseball information. The goal of the organization behind the site, according to the site, is "computerizing play-by-play accounts of as many pre-1984 major league games as possible." Why? Statistical analysis. From this site you can get game logs for each season from 1900 to the present (comma-delimited text files), ZIP files of multiple seasons, play-by-play data files (also ZIP'd), and newsletters back to 1994. There are also some fun features here, like a list of games that used "courtesy runners" and a list of strange and unusual plays over the years. Posted to Entertainment-Sports-Baseball | TrackBack
