October 25, 2002Photographs From MinneapolisThe Minneapolis Public Library has a collection of 10,000 Minneapolis and Twin Cities-related photographs available at http://www.mplib.org/dbt w-wpd/phosrc.htm . The photographs date from the 1850s to 1960. You can search this database by keywords, years/decades, or accession number. A search for "winter" found 107 results. Search results include a thumbnail of the found picture, the title, and some details about the picture. Clicking on the title gets you a larger version of the picture as well as additional information, including categories (click on a category name to visit the other pictures in that category), place, notes, photographer, and source. If the basic search isn't enough for you check out the advanced search with allows you to search by several additional fields, including photographer, source, and personal names.
