October 31, 2002Sky And Telescope Astronomy InformationSky & Telescope ( http://skyandteles cope.com/resources/internet/ ) is a portal to online astronomical information. The News section links to top stories and also to a news archive. The section on Observing provides a look at the sky this week and highlights upcoming events, including Asteroid Occultations, expected to occur November 2nd-3rd and December 24th. Observing also has an Almanac, Celestial Objects and an Interactive Sky Chart requiring Java. Look to the How To section to learn how to get started studying astronomy, like what you need to have and know in addition to the names of the stars. The How To section addresses using a telescope, but also how to find stars in the sky using your eyes alone. Being a portal, this site of course has lots of Internet resources including astronomy education, from kid's sites to university level courses, research sites and equipment and telescope making. The site's keyword search option list results sorted by online articles, Sky & Telescope Magazine articles, and products from the Shop at Sky sections of the site. Posted to Science-Astronomy
