LOC Updates American Time Capsule

The Library of Congress has updated its online ephemera collection, An American Time Capsule: Three Centuries of Broadsides and Other Printed Ephemera. In its first release it contained more than 7,000 items, and an additional 3,000 items have been added. Materials include advertisements, blank forms, programs, election tickets, and menus (!!)

The collection is available at http://memory.loc.gov/ammem/rbpehtml/pehome.html . You may browse by author, title, genre, or geographic location or printing, or of course you can search by keyword. A keyword search for menu found 21 results. Results list a hyperlinked description of the item. Click on the item and you'll get a thumbnail (click on the thumbnail for a larger version) as well as information about the item including publication date, description, and notes. Now you too can get a good idea of what restaurants charged for boiled chicken and oysters in the 1860s.
