December 18, 2002Menu Image DatabaseThe Los Angeles Public Library has a database of menu images. Yes they do. It's at http://pubindex.lapl.org/pages/ele_nei/menus-elenei.htm . On this page you can search by keyword, restaurant, cuisine, and date. Searching for 18** under date brought a list of results but unfortunately no result count. Results include the name of the restaurant, the cuisine, the city where it was located (I guess these are all California menus) and a thumbnail of the menu cover. The Chancellor Hotel Grill Room menu looked interesting, so I clicked on the menu name. I got additional information about the menu, including the date of the menu, any notes, the meal for which the menu was produced (breakfast, lunch, dinner, etc.) and the price range. I also got a link for a larger picture of the menu. I am now hungry for sliced avocado and tomato salad. Posted to Culture-Cooking | TrackBack
