December 24, 2002What Are Pump Clips, Anyway?I confess I had no idea what pump clips were until I visited the site at http://www.cix.co.uk/~dalecu/ -- DeeCee's Pump Clips. As DeeCee explains, "Pump clips are badges fitted to beer pump handles to indicate which real ales are available." As a non-beer drinker I figured how many different pump clips could there be? A dozen? Two dozen? Silly, silly me. DeeCee's gallery contains over a thousand pump clips, sorted by brewery. At the upper left of the framed front page you'll see listings for A to Z (a few letters are not hyperlinked.) There's also an Unknown label. Click on a letter and underneath the alphabet menu you'll get a list of breweries. Click on a brewery name and you'll get a page of pump clips pictures (all the ones I saw were unannotated.) Numbers vary; Moorhouses had a ton of them (they were kinda cute) but Hexhamshire had only one (Whapweasel?) If you find these clips interesting, don't forget to check out the Breweries on the web list and the Pubs on the web list, both on the same site. Posted to Culture-Cooking | TrackBack
