December 17, 2002WWII Radio Broadcasts in Flash-Based ExhibitVoices of World War II, at http://www.umkc.edu/lib/spec-col/ww2/main.htm , contains more than 200 clips from the World War II era. The primary version of the exhibit is Flash-based but there is a text-based version available if you don't have Flash. I used the text-based version at http://www.umkc.edu/lib/spec-col/ww2/main_txt.htm . It's divided into several time-based categories from 1939-1941: Rumors of War: The War before Pearl Harbor to Post War World: Looking Ahead: The Post-War World. Choosing one of those categories I find sub-categories including "Winning the Home Front" and "GI Jive." Each subcategory has a selection of songs, or broadcasts, or commercials, or whatever's appropriate to the category. There's also a good deal of commentary and explanation related to each item. The audio items are in RealAudio format. Plenty to listen to here; a good browse. Posted to History-Wars and Conflicts | TrackBack
