Asian Historical Architecture

At Asian Historical Architecture ( http://www.orientalarchitecture.com/ ) you'll find over 5,700 images of Asian architecture from over 400 places across Asia. You'll need Flash to use this map on this site.

From the front page, click on any country. A framed page will come up with a list of countries on the left and a flash map of Asia on the right. Click on the country you want to examine and the map will zoom in and give you a choice of areas within that country. I picked Pakistan and had the choice of choosing Taxila or Lahore. I chose Taxila.

From there I was given a list of pictures with thumbnails and a brief history of Taxila. Click on a picture or a picture title and you'll get several thumbnails of that particular place, a description of the place (extensive), and sometimes a bibliography for more reading about that area. When I looked at the Mohra Moradu Monastery, I found seven pictures, a description of the monastery, and a list of three books that are relevant to Taxila's architecture. Clicking on one of the pictures lead to a larger picture and a brief description.

Most of the other countries have more sites than Pakistan. China has almost a dozen, while India has nine. I could spend hours wandering around in here. Highly recommended.
