Institute of Physics Makes Full-Text Searching of Journals Available

The Institute of Physics (IOP) has announced free full-text searching for their entire electronic journals archive back to 1874. This includes 172,000 articles, starting with the Proceedings of the Physical Society of London in 1874.

You can search the archive at http://www.iop.org/EJ/search . From here you can choose to search by keyword in the abstract and title, by author, affiliation, or general keywords. You can choose a range of years or you can choose to search all years. You can also choose to search all journals or any of several different titles. Down at the bottom you have options on how to sort your search results (they appear to sort by date as a default.)

My search for "relativity" found 364 results, from February 2003 all the way back to December 1918. Results include title of article, author, name of publication, date, and page numbers. Click on the author name to get more articles by the same author.

Want to see the article itself? Click on the "Full text: Acrobat PDF" link. You'll have the opportunity to subscribe to the article archives, or to buy individual articles.
