March 13, 2003Database of Flavonoid Content From USDA
So what? Well, as I understand it, not being a nutritionist or a biologist, flavonoids are antioxidants that help protect cells from damage. So flavonoids good! The database at http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/foodcomp/Data/Flav/flav.html . will help you identify the flavonoid content in about 224 foods (more foods will be added over time.) The database is not a traditional searchable database. Instead it's part of an extremely large PDF file which you can download from the URL above. The database is a set of tables which provides flavonoid content in alphabetical order -- from alcohol, beer, to raw watercress. The information contains subclass of flavonoid, specific type, and some content information. Very technical, but if you were wondering about those blueberries....
