Daypop And Word-Bursty Goodness

Dan Chan of Daypop has added a couple of new features to the news and weblog search engine.

Top Word Bursts, at http://www.daypop.com/burst/ , shows that words Daypop-indexed sites are using more frequently. The list provides the word and a link to search for that word in Daypop, as well as two sample weblog entries using the word.

News Bursts, at http://www.daypop.com/newsburst/ , are similar but they're words that are showing up with more frequently on the front page of news sites. Here you get a count of how many times the word is showing up on how many different front pages.

This is interesting, but I can't get a sense of the what's appearing here -- I mean, I'm not seeing a list of words and saying to myself, "Of course, it makes perfect sense that so-and-so is here. If I were a little more clever and not so tired, I would figure out some way to scrape these pages and dump them into a fresh Google search.
