Etymology Dictionary

One of the interesting things I learned at http://www.etymonline.com/ is that when the word "access" first turned up in the 1300s it meant "an attack of fever." Seven centuries later it is hard to talk about the Internet without using that very same word. The Etymology Dictionary provides a dictionary of word origins.

This site does offer a keyword search option which lists results from all over the Web. But a search of this type is more interesting to simply browse the listings. Info about each term includes when the word first begin to appear and how the meaning changed through the years. The site goes from a/an to zymurgy, though if you want to be picky the entry for zymurgy does mention the word zyxt.
