A Race Track Locator

I admit, there have not been many days where I have looked around and said to myself, "Dagnabit, where's a race track when I really need one?" But I'm cognizant of the fact that many people lead much more interesting lives than I do. With that in mind, I offer the ChasinRacin Race Track Locator at http://www.chasinracin.com/track-locator/. This site allows you to find race tracks by map, city, or by type.

The type locator allows you to specify a state (US states and Canadian provinces are on this list), the track surface (paved, dirt/clay, other, or any), and type (oval, drag, street, off-road, or other.) A search for oval dirt/clay tracks in South Carolina found 18 tracks, including the Possum Kingdom Super Speedway! Woo hoo! Search results include the name of the track, the city, the length, track surface, and type.

Click on the name of the track and you'll get additional information including directions, Web site, notes, and the occasional nickname ('The Place Your Mama Warned You About'?) There's also a set of icon keys that indicates whether there's a family section, if there's camping available, etc. etc. Be sure to check the icons at the bottom of the listings for links to news, schedules, and photos for that particular racetrack. (Not all tracks have that extraneous information.)

The search by map lets you pick an overall map of the US or Canada and choose tracks marked on state and province maps. Searching by city allows you to specify a state/province then search for a string. There's also a database of race track photographs. Extensive!
