June 24, 2003Old Missouri Court Cases Go OnlineOver 7,000 Missouri court cases spanning from 1783 to 1871 are now available as the Missouri Supreme Court Historical Database. The database is at http://www.sos.state.mo.us/archives/judiciary/supremecourt/. There are a couple different ways you can search this site. The first way is a simple keyword search that's at the very bottom of this site. The second way is via a more extensive search that allows you to search by name of party, year filed, cause of action, and subject. A search for "Clemens" found 17 results. Results included date, name, subject, cause of action, and case summary (not always available.) Each search result also has a "View Record Detail" link. Clicking on that link provides an extended description, offline identifier for the case information's location, and case resolution. There's also the occasional note ("EXCELLENT MAP.") In addition to the case notes this site also has a brief history of the Missouri Supreme Court as well as information about the judges of the Missouri Supreme Court. Posted to US-Missouri
