August 05, 2003Online Database of Distance Learning Institutions AvailableDegreeInfo ( http://www.degreeinfo.com ) is now offering a database of accredited schools and universities that offer distance learning opportunities. The database is searchable from http://search.degreeinfo.com/. From there you can choose a degree level (Associate, Master, etc.) and a field of study (from Agriculture to Training & Development). You can also choose to search by keyword, residency requirements, and location. A search for Bachelor degrees in library and information sciences found 17 degrees in twelve schools. Results information was presented in a list that includes the name of the university, a brief description, a list of relevant degrees offered, residency requirements, and average cost. Well, there's a spot for average costs. I never actually saw one in the result lists I viewed. Click on the name of the institution for additional information. The additional information you'll get includes address, phone numbers, founding date, accreditation type, religious affiliation (if any) and degrees offered. In addition to the degree database, this site also offers articles, a discussion forum (including participants like John Bear) and some introductory material on distance learning. Nice.
