Check Out These Crazy Fads

Yes, you knew about the pole sitting and the goldfish swallowing and the hula hoops, but did you know about stickball, pea shooters, and tetherball?

Crazy Fads ( http://www.crazyfads.com/ ) will enlighten you (if that's the appropriate verb.) This site has information on several decades of fads, from the 1920s to the 1990s. Click on the decade in which you're interested and you'll get a paragraph or two on several items, along with links to more extensive information about each item. A couple of the links I looked at lead to resources on the crazyfads.com site, but most of them lead to external resources.

Some of the items listed in this collection I would probably consider more popular things than fads, but there's too much nostalgia here for me to waste a lot of time quibblin'.
