October 27, 2003Dept of Labor and Dept of Education Launch Career VoyagesCareer Voyages ( http://www.careervoyages.gov ) is an effort by the Department of Labor and the Department of Education to link the educational community with the world of work. Several interesting resources here. You can "Chart Your Course," choose an industry and see both the projected job growth for a variety of careers in that industry and see the median US wage for that industry over several different education levels. Click on a job title and you can get more detailed information; after you click on a title pick a state, and you'll get information about the median wages for that job in that state, a description of the job, and much more detailed job growth statistics. (Click on the TV icon beside a job title to get a short video describing the job and giving a little information on training.) You can also see what's hot; either overall, jobs that don't require a 4-year degree, or jobs that require a 4-year degree or better. Or if you want to concentrate on a state, you can get a list of the hottest occupations by state (Wisconsin needs systems analysts.) Check out the menu on the right for answers to frequently-asked career questions, and check out the tools to use for a list of relevant education and training links. Posted to Business-Jobs
