October 20, 2003PubMed Central Starts Major Scanning ProjectPubMed Central has started a major archival scanning project in conjunction with several different publishers. The National Library of Medicine will scan cover-to-cover images of participating journal issues, back through volume one. You can read about the scanning project at http://pubmedcentral.com/about/scanning.html . The about 40 journals which will be included in the project are listed at the bottom of the page and include ten journals from the American Society for Microbiology as well as several journals of the BMJ Publishing Group Journals (including the tersely-named "Gut" and the intriguing yet laconic "Thorax".) The material is being scanned a decade at a time, starting with the 1990s, and will be added to PubMed Central over time. Posted to Science-Medicine-Publications
